Figures from Kakao Entertainment, as of March 25, 2026 (first anniversary).

Quick Answer

The Berriz app is Kakao Entertainment's global fan app, launched worldwide on March 25, 2025, with communities for IU, IVE, MONSTA X, i-dle and others. As of October 2026, the app is free to download; fan club memberships and merch are paid through Berriz Shop.

The Berriz app is the official fan community for a growing list of K-pop artists, and it works much like Weverse: artist posts, live streams, notices and a shop sit in one place. The two apps host different artists, so the first question for any fan is which app their artist actually uses. This guide compares Berriz and Weverse feature by feature, lists the artists confirmed on each app by official sources, and separates what is free from what costs money. Every fact below was checked against Kakao Entertainment's newsroom, the Berriz Terms of Service, Weverse notices and the official App Store listings on October 24, 2026.

What is the Berriz app and who runs it?

The Berriz app is run by Kakao Entertainment Corp., the company listed as the seller on the official App Store page and in the footer of berriz.in. Kakao Entertainment announced the official worldwide launch of Berriz on March 25, 2025, describing it as a global K-culture fan platform available on the web and as Android and iOS apps, with service in 18 languages including English and Korean.

Berriz started with singer Jung Seung-hwan, who joined during the pre-opening period, and with KiiiKiii, whose fan community opened on March 24, 2025, the day of the group's debut album. MONSTA X opened its community on April 28, 2025, and IU launched her first global fan community on Berriz on May 13, 2025, according to Kakao Entertainment's newsroom. Berriz also hosts communities for dramas and webtoons, which is why Kakao Entertainment calls it a K-culture platform rather than a K-pop-only app.

By its first anniversary on March 25, 2026, Kakao Entertainment reported Berriz fans in 202 countries, with about 80 percent of users coming from outside Korea, plus 13 million likes and 2 million posts on the platform.

Berriz vs Weverse: how do the two apps compare?

Berriz and Weverse are both free fan community apps with a paid layer on top, but they are run by different companies, host different artists and sell different paid products. The matrix compares the two apps using only what each company publishes in its own notices, terms and App Store listing.

The biggest practical difference is the artist roster, not the feature list. IVE is listed as a Berriz artist on the official Berriz App Store page, while BTS Digital Membership items are sold in the Weverse app, so the app a fan needs is decided by where the artist's agency runs the official community rather than by the fan.

Which artists are on Berriz, and which are on Weverse?

As of October 24, 2026, the official Berriz App Store listing names Jung Seung Hwan, KiiiKiii, MONSTA X, IU, CRAVITY, IVE, IDID, WJSN and WOODZ, and Kakao Entertainment's newsroom adds i-dle and LIGHTSUM. On the Weverse side, the official Weverse App Store listing sells Digital Membership items for BTS, ENHYPEN, SEVENTEEN, CORTIS and TXT, and Weverse notices show official memberships for aespa, Red Velvet and NCT 127.

As of October 24, 2026. Artists can move or add platforms; the artist's own agency notice is the final word.

The i-dle row shows that one artist can have official communities on both apps. The i-dle Weverse community carries Cube Entertainment notices, such as a September 16, 2025 version of a pre-vote notice, and Kakao Entertainment announced an i-dle community on Berriz on November 28, 2025. For an artist listed on both apps, the place to buy or verify the official fan club membership is stated in the agency's latest notice, so check Cube Entertainment's newest announcement before paying.

Is the Berriz app free?

Yes. The Berriz app is free to download, and the official App Store listing shows the price as free with no in-app purchases listed, as of October 24, 2026. Berriz makes money from its fan club service and from Berriz Shop, not from charging for the app itself.

Without paying, a Berriz account can read official news and notices in each artist's community, watch live streams and join the live chat, read posts in the 18 supported languages, set push notifications by community or artist, and see event listings such as fansign applications, voting, birthday cafes and comeback live shows. The App Store description also mentions that Berriz gathers artists' official posts in one place, so a fan does not need to check several social accounts separately.

The paid layer begins where the artist's official fan club begins. Kakao Entertainment's App Store listing describes fan club-only live streams, media and boards, and the IU community, for example, keeps exclusive videos and images in a members-only area called UAENA ZONE.

On Berriz, the paid items are the digital Fan Club Service and physical products such as albums, merch and fan club-exclusive goods, according to Article 2 of the Berriz Terms of Service effective July 1, 2026. Berriz Shop, which Kakao Entertainment rolled out on November 20, 2025, sells official merchandise, limited editions and fan club memberships, ships worldwide through roughly 500 logistics hubs and offers customer support in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese.

Article 18 of the Berriz terms gives two ways to become a fan club member. The first is to buy the Fan Club Service inside Berriz. The second is to join through an external service such as Melon Ticket and then complete authentication inside Berriz. Members can then show a digital fan club card with details such as the membership number, a feature Berriz added in version 1.3.0, and IU's verified UAENA members receive a digital membership card, according to Kakao Entertainment.

Refunds are narrow. Under Article 18 of the Berriz terms, a member can cancel and get a refund only within 7 days, counted from the day after purchase, and only if no fan club-exclusive benefit has been used. Watching one members-only video can therefore end the refund option. Membership prices and periods differ by artist and are set on each fan club's sale page; this guide does not list prices because Berriz does not publish one official price table.

Pro Tip: If a Korean concert presale asks for a Melon Ticket fan club, check the artist's notice before buying a second membership. The Berriz terms allow a fan club joined through an external service such as Melon Ticket to be verified inside Berriz, so one membership may cover both.

Is Weverse worth it, and what does Weverse charge for?

Weverse is free to use: a Weverse notice dated December 2, 2024 states that all users can keep using the existing features of Weverse with a free Weverse account. Paying on Weverse is worth it mainly for fans who want what the paid tiers add, such as membership-only content, ad-free video and offline viewing.

Weverse Digital Membership started on December 3, 2024 (KST). The Weverse notice lists eight benefits, including access to membership-only content, unlimited fan letters, removal of video ads, extra video-watching features, bonus Jelly and offline download of up to 30 VODs a month from the Media tab. Membership-only content can vary by community. Weverse DM is a separate subscription where fans can talk directly with artists, according to the Weverse App Store listing, and it is paid with Jelly, Weverse's in-app currency.

Prices depend on the store region. The table shows three in-app items from the US App Store listing for Weverse, checked on October 24, 2026.

The official fan club membership is a separate product sold through Weverse Shop, and since March 20, 2024 a single Weverse account can buy an artist's membership in more than one regional Weverse Shop, according to Weverse notice 17793.

Can you vote on the Berriz app?

Berriz has polls and event listings, but it is not a music show voting app. The official App Store listing says fans can join special events such as fansign applications, voting, birthday cafes and comeback live shows, and Berriz update notes added artist-created polls (version 1.12.0) and polls inside fan posts (version 1.15.0).

Music show and awards votes run on separate apps chosen by each broadcaster. The September 16, 2025 version of a Cube Entertainment pre-vote notice in the i-dle Weverse community lists STAR PLANET for THE SHOW, IDOL CHAMP for SHOW CHAMPION, Mnet Plus for M COUNTDOWN, Fancast for Music Bank, the MBC viewer board and MUBEAT for Show! Music Core, and LiNC for Inkigayo. Berriz is not on that list. For the Mnet side, the step-by-step process is covered in how to vote on Mnet Plus.

The Berriz Terms of Service effective July 1, 2026 list fan club services, albums and merch as paid products and do not describe a voting service, so music show and awards votes for Berriz artists still happen on the separate voting apps named in each agency's notice.

Why do some fans need both apps?

Some fans need both apps because an artist's community, fan club and merch store do not always sit on the same platform. aespa is the clearest example as of October 24, 2026: aespa's "MY" membership (GL) is described in an aespa Weverse notice as Weverse's official fan club of aespa, while Kakao Entertainment's November 20, 2025 release says SMTOWN & STORE opened on Berriz Shop with about 1,000 items, including official merch for aespa, BoA, TVXQ! and SUPER JUNIOR.

In that situation, an aespa fan uses Weverse for the community and the membership, and may use Berriz Shop only to order SM merch. Kakao Entertainment also said that some future SMTOWN & STORE releases, such as debut or birthday merch, will be exclusive to Berriz Shop, so a merch collector may want a Berriz account even without following any Berriz community.

Fans who follow artists from several agencies end up with the same split. A fan of both IU and SEVENTEEN, for example, follows IU on Berriz and SEVENTEEN on Weverse, with two separate fan club memberships and two separate shops. The artist lookup table in this guide lists which app is the official home for each artist checked against official sources.
